Kannada film industry collapsed in the box office in 2009. Out of 120 plus films released in 2009 only 15 percent is the success rate. We give you the hits and misses of 2009.

#1 Raj The Showman
‘Raj The Showman’ recorded the stupendous profit in 50 days for the investment of Rs.7.5 crores. The film starring power star Puneeth Rajakumar and Nisha Kothari in the direction of hat trick director Prem produced by Suresh Gowda and Srinivasamurthy was sold for Rs.12.5 crores in the market even before the release. The film ‘Raj the Showman’ recorded the collection of Rs.25 crores in 50 days.

#2 Yee Shathamanadha Veera Madhakari
‘Yee Shathamanadha Veera Madhakari’ starring Sudeep and Ragini a film made by Dinesh Gandhi for Rs.4 crores investment made a profit of Rs.4 crores. Sudeep has directed this remake film.

#3 Junglee
#4 Thakkath
‘Junglee’ and ‘Thakkath’ both starring action hero Vijay produced by Rockline Venkatesh and 24 Frames Production house respectively recorded good profits. ‘Junglee’ made in Rs.3 crores earned Rs.3.5 crores profit and ‘Thakkath’ for investment of Rs.2 crores made Rs.2.5 crore profit for the producers. ‘Junglee’ was directed by Soori and MS Ramesh directed ‘Thakkath’.

#5 Manasaare
‘Manasaare’ starring Diganth and Aindrita Ray directed by Yogaraj Bhat in the production of Rockline Venkatesh that is nearing 100 days has given not less than Rs.3 crores profit for similar amount of investment.

#6 Eddelu Manjunatha
‘Eddelu Manjunatha’ starring Jaggesh and Yagna Shetty directed by Guruprasad made at Rs.1.75 crores earned profit of Rs.2.5 crores for first time producer Sanathkumar.

#7 Ambari
Ambari – starring Yogish and Supritha by debutant director AP Arjun recorded a profit of Rs.2 crores for the investment of Rs.2 crores.
